As our Medical Receptionist, you will be the face and voice of our practice—playing a crucial role in shaping the patient experience from their first point of contact.
Position Overview
We are seeking a friendly, professional, and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team. In this role, you will manage front-desk operations, coordinate patient check-ins and check-outs, schedule appointments, and ensure the administrative side of our clinic runs seamlessly.
The ideal candidate is a proactive multi-tasker who thrives in a fast-paced medical setting, possesses excellent communication skills, and handles patient interactions with empathy and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Welcoming & Check-In: Greet patients warmly, verify demographic and insurance information, and manage the check-in/check-out process.
- Phone & Communication Management: Answer incoming calls, address patient inquiries, take accurate messages, and route calls to clinical staff when appropriate.
- Scheduling: Coordinate and manage appointment books for our physicians, ensuring optimal scheduling flow.
- Insurance Verification: Assist in verifying insurance eligibility, collecting copays, and processing patient payments.
- Administrative Support: Maintain neat digital and physical patient records (utilizing Electronic Medical Records/EMR software), sort incoming faxes/mail, and assist with general office upkeep.
- Compliance: Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of experience as a medical receptionist, front desk receptionist, or in a similar healthcare administrative role is preferred (but we are willing to train the right candidate with strong customer service background).
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) software and general computer proficiency (MS Office, emails).
- Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional interpersonal, active listening, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational capabilities with high attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic in a busy clinic environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or medical office training certification is a plus).
