Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority,patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Supervisor or designate, the Laboratory Combined Technologist receives and completes requisitions, forms and reports; monitors patients; performs general imaging procedures, as qualified, including archiving acquired images; carries out routine Laboratory and ECG testing, as qualified; utilizes computerized patient data systems; and prepares and monitors supplies and equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Graduation from a recognized combined Laboratory/ Medical Radiography Technician Program; One (1) year recent related experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities Meet deadlines. Determine and deal with emergent situations. Organize, prioritize and coordinate workload.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff and other health care providers. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Foster good public relations.

Work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Problem solve. Operate related equipment, including computerized systems.
