Senior Medical Packaging Engineer

Tempe, AZ

Join a role focused on developing and improving sterile packaging systems for medical devices. This position contributes to packaging design, validation, and regulatory alignment, supporting both new product development and sustaining product updates. You will work across functions to ensure packaging solutions meet quality, performance, and compliance requirements.

Work Flexibility:
Hybrid: candidates must reside within commuting distance of Tempe, AZ and be able to work onsite several days per week.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop sterile packaging components and systems, translating user needs into engineering specifications
  • Create and execute packaging validation and verification protocols in alignment with regulatory standards
  • Analyze test data, identify design issues, and implement corrective actions to improve packaging performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory) to deliver project milestones
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications and design history records
  • Coordinate supplier activities to support packaging design, materials, and production readiness
  • Lead root cause investigations for packaging issues and implement sustainable solutions
  • Train production teams and support implementation of new packaging processes and configurations

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related disciplines
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing and testing packaging in a regulated environment

Preferred

  • Experience in medical device or regulated industry packaging
  • Experience with packaging validation, sterilization methods, or regulatory standards
  • Experience developing test protocols and analyzing validation data
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in product development environments
