Job description

Product Designer - Remote

Whalar Group is hiring a remote candidate for Product Designer. This is a full time position. Work location: USA. Work Location: East Coast (Remote). Start Date : ASAP.

About the role

Foam builds software for the people who run the business side of the creator economy - managers, agencies and the brands they work with. The product is live, growing, and being reshaped quickly. We're hiring a Product Designer to own a set of existing product surfaces end to end: understand how they're used, sharpen them, and ship improvements at a steady cadence, working directly with product and engineering. You'll join a small design team and work in a culture where product partners bring a clear point of view, design materialises it, and we test it with real users fast.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Own the experience of established product lines: diagnose, redesign, iterate, and ship.
  • Take a brief that's more conversation than document and return with something better than was asked for.
  • Design across the full range of real-world states - sparse data, dense data, mobile, desktop, embedded and standalone - so every variation feels intentional.
  • Build interactive prototypes that engineers can feel, not just read.
  • Work inside a shared, evolving design system, reusing existing patterns by default and proposing new ones only where they earn their place.
  • Run lightweight user sessions on your own prototypes and fold what you learn back in.
Who We're Looking For

A portfolio that shows range: more than one industry or product type, and evidence you've oriented quickly in unfamiliar territory. Startup-native. You've lived through priorities changing mid-flight and kept a good attitude about it. Low ego, high resilience. A rejected design is normal Tuesday work, not a verdict. Comfortable with ambiguity. You form a point of view from incomplete information, commit, and let users tell you whether you were right. Strong craft - components, variants, responsive layouts, prototyping - with a real eye for visual detail. Clear, direct communicator who works well asynchronously across US and European time zones.

Our values

At Whalar, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) isn't just a statement, it's our collective strength. Our people are our superpower. A diverse team and inclusive leadership have shaped Whaler since our inception in 2016, fueling a constant evolution of growth. We champion a culture of respect and empathy, fostering a sense of belonging that transcends demographics. We hire individuals of all backgrounds and empower them to thrive, challenge stereotypes, and actively break societal barriers.

Foam provides flexible benefits and collaborative work environments/experiences, so employees can work productfully in a setting that best and uniquely suits their needs.
