Job description

Position Title: Medical Malpractice Paralegal
Salary Range: $68,000-$100,000 / Year, DOE
A well-established plaintiff-side law firm is seeking an experienced Medical Malpractice Paralegal to take ownership of complex cases from initial development through trial. This is a hands-on role supporting a shareholder and managing a focused caseload of approximately 20-30 medical malpractice matters across both pre-suit and active litigation, with responsibility for deadlines, discovery, medical records, expert coordination, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate is an experienced Florida litigation paralegal who is highly organized, detail-driven, and confident enough to anticipate what needs to happen next without waiting to be told. This team values mature professionals who think critically, adapt quickly, take direction well, and can handle constructive feedback while maintaining a high standard of work.
Responsibilities
  • Manage plaintiff-side medical malpractice cases from initial development through litigation and trial preparation
  • Track case deadlines, filings and key milestones to ensure matters continue moving forward without critical details being missed
  • Gather, organize, index, and maintain extensive medical records while preparing medical bill summaries and supporting case documentation
  • Draft and format pleadings, discovery responses, interrogatories, correspondence and other litigation documents
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather information, prepare discovery responses and keep case information accurate and organized
  • Coordinate expert witnesses and assist with depositions, mediations, hearings and trial preparation, including exhibit and witness lists
  • Maintain organized case files, complete e-filing, and confidently shift priorities when urgent litigation matters arise

Requirements
  • Several years of paralegal experience with medical malpractice or substantial plaintiff-side personal injury litigation experience
  • Strong knowledge of Florida litigation practices with demonstrated experience independently managing cases from A to Z
  • Extensive experience gathering, organizing, indexing, and managing medical records and preparing medical bill summaries
  • Hands-on experience with discovery, interrogatories, case deadlines, depositions, mediations and trial preparation
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization and critical-thinking skills with the ability to anticipate next steps and take ownership
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, legal assistants, clients and other members of the litigation team
  • Paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree preferred, with medical chronologies, trial experience, or a nurse paralegal background considered a strong plus

Benefits
  • Medical and dental insurance with the firm contributing toward dependent coverage
  • 401(k) eligibility beginning the first of the month following hire with employer contributions based on tenure
  • Employer-paid life insurance plus short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Four weeks of combined vacation and sick leave plus 11 paid holidays
  • Holiday bonus program and performance-based opportunities for salary increases
  • Paid parking plus firm-sponsored team events, family activities and additional employee perks throughout the year

If you are a seasoned litigation paralegal who knows how to take ownership of complex cases, stay three steps ahead of deadlines, and deliver exceptional work without being micromanaged, apply today and bring your experience to a firm where it will be trusted and valued.
