Job description

Medical Laboratory Technologist
 
Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Schedule: Day Shift, Monday โ€“ Friday (No nights or weekends)
Status: Full-Time
 
 
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technologist to perform clinical diagnostic testing in a consistently reliable manner. You will be responsible for processing specimens, conducting specialized immunology tests, and ensuring the highest standards of quality control and safety within our laboratory.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostic Testing: Perform tests including IgG, IgE, Candida, Gliadin/tTG (Celiac), and ELISA 
  • Specimen Management: Accurately pipette specimens/reagents using micro-pipettors, prepare reagents, and handle specimen accessions as needed 
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in QA monitoring, perform QC split samples, and successfully complete CAP or internal proficiency testing 
  • Maintenance & Safety: Maintain lab equipment, disinfect work areas, and ensure the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and bodily fluids 
  • Professional Communication: Handle inquiries from physicians regarding test results or methodologies and assist supervisors with technical problem-solving
  • Compliance: Perform all duties in accordance with OSHA regulations and maintain up-to-date Continuing Education Units (CEUs) (pp. 1, 3)
 
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Education: B.A./B.S. in Medical Technology or a related scientific major 
  • Experience: 1โ€“2 years of experience in a specialty area (e.g., allergy/immunology) is required; general clinical laboratory experience is a plus 
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid Florida Medical Technologist License 
  • Technical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts (exponents, logarithms, etc.) and analyze technical procedures or governmental regulations 
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and possess strong visual acuity, including color vision and depth perception 
  • Additional Requirements: Valid Driverโ€™s License and current Hepatitis immunizations 
  • Must be nicotine free

  • Initiative: Ability to work independently with little supervision and recognize tasks that need to be performed without direct assignment
