Job description

Medical Technologist *Safety Sensitive Job
Utilizes laboratory skills to perform and report results of clearly identified routine laboratory procedures which affect patient care. Responsible for 8.0 hours or 11.5 hours/day, 10/7 days a payroll period. Incumbents are subject to overtime, and rotating shifts as required by Great River Center/SMC Regional Center. This position is under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Director or Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Perform laboratory testing and log testing results appropriately, according to established lab protocol
  • Make decisions on specimen validity within 20 minutes of receiving each specimen
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair any issues with the equipment used in the laboratory
  • Present clients with recollection protocols in the event that a sample is rejected
  • Verify that all test results match the specimens that were submitted and also ensure that all tests are marked and organized appropriately

Requirements
Completion of an AMA approved Medical Laboratory Training program or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and completion of an AMA approved program of Medical Technology.
