We are currently seeking an Insurance Manager!

Essential duties and responsibilities for the Insurance Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and administer Sargent & Lundy's business insurance program on a day-to-day basis.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Commercial, General Counsel, and insurance broker to maintain and continue to develop the company's insurance program.
  • Oversee underwriting data collection and prepare global insurance renewals and applications for the U.S., Canada, and other jurisdictions.
  • Review, comment and assist with negotiations on insurance requirements in client contracts, supplier contracts, and other commercial agreements.
  • Assist in evaluating insurance-related risks and exposures and provide practical recommendations.
  • Develop strategies and creative solutions for a variety of insurance and risk-related situations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, brokers, carriers, and other external partners regarding insurance matters.
  • Support administration and ongoing management of key corporate insurance coverages, including professional liability, general liability, and other business insurance lines as applicable.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to insurance policies, renewals, requirements, and related matters.
  • Evaluate creative insurance program structures, including various towers, alternative risk financing strategies, including captives, and project specific policy placements.

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of 3 days in our downtown Chicago, IL office and 2 days working remotely from home.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the business insurance industry
  • Experience in underwriting, insurance brokerage, or in-house insurance/risk management
  • Strong knowledge of business insurance programs, including professional liability, general liability, and related commercial coverages
  • Experience reviewing and commenting on contractual insurance requirements
  • Experience managing renewals and supporting ongoing insurance program administration
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with executive leadership, legal counsel, brokers, and internal business stakeholders
  • Ability to provide strategic, practical, and creative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Experience in the engineering industry
  • Experience in the construction industry
  • Experience with captive insurance programs
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, CRIS, ARM, RPLU, AINS
