SUMMARY: Inspects product at various stages of the production process and evaluates data to determine if the process can meet all requirements.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting a visual and measurement test, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Approves all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests.
  • Returns products for re-work if needed and complete documentation to confirm re-work.
  • Documents and updates inspection results by completing reports and logs.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Coaches and mentors junior employees; seek opportunities to grow leadership in others.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, attending seminars, watching industry videos, etc.
  • Accomplishes organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of related experience and/or training required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institute preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of GD&T and Blueprints
  • Must be proficient with hand measuring equipment and various other inspection devices.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • High School level mathematics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Microsoft Word processing, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets, Internet software, Navigate E-mail, Database software (preferred) DCC Coordinate Measuring Machine operation ~ with existing programs


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, bend, reach, and twist frequently throughout the day.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds (or specify your range).
  • Ability to lift and position materials overhead or at shoulder level as needed.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to grip, grasp, and handle small components as part of production tasks.
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders and work at heights as needed.
  • Ability to handle vibrating tools or machinery.
  • Ability to crouch, kneel, stoop, or work in confined spaces periodically.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, noise, vibration, fumes, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain alertness and concentration for extended periods while operating machinery.
  • Work in an environment with moderate to high noise, moving equipment, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak effectively to communicate and respond to equipment alerts and alarms. Visually inspect parts and equipment and respond to safety alarms or signals.
  • Must be able to comfortably perform physical tasks associated with the role, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
