PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Inspects and maintains patient care equipment according to department procedures. Performs preventative maintenance inspections according to recommended procedures. Maintains records on patient care equipment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Locates equipment in need of preventative maintenance and inspection according to computer generated inventory work orders.
  • Tests functioning of wide variety of patient care equipment according to recommended procedures.
  • Corrects electromechanical problems discovered during inspections.
  • Performs electromechanical preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Reports complex equipment problems and consults with clinical staff to schedule additional service repairs.
  • Acts as Clinical Engineering representative while doing inspections. Funnels questions or problems that cannot be dealt with back to appropriate individual in Clinical Engineering.
  • Uses departmental computer and paper system to maintain equipment records, and document failures, repairs and inspections.
  • Updates patient care equipment inventory list.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in other meetings and seminars as required.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma.
  • One year electrical and mechanical experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willing to occasionally work alternative shifts to accommodate schedules in other departments.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
