Job description

Merge medical imaging solutions, offered by Merative, combine intelligent, scalable imaging workflow tools with deep and broad expertise to help healthcare organizations improve their confidence in patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
The Senior Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of the Merge Universal Viewer (MUV), a web-based diagnostic imaging platform. Working as part of an Agile team, this individual will develop advanced imaging workflows, visualization capabilities, and interoperability features while ensuring high levels of quality, performance, and reliability. The successful candidate will bring strong medical imaging and web development expertise, contribute to technical design discussions, mentor junior team members, and help drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software components for MUV.

  • Develop and execute automated tests to improve product quality and regression coverage.

  • Participate in technical design, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies.

  • Investigate and resolve software defects and performance issues.

  • Troubleshoot complex customer and production issues.

  • Contribute to advanced imaging and visualization capabilities.

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Regulatory Affairs, Support, and Architecture teams to ensure solutions meet business, customer, and regulatory requirements.

  • Mentor junior developers and share technical knowledge across the team.

Required Skills & Experience

Medical Imaging

  • Experience developing medical imaging software.

  • Familiarity with DICOM standards and imaging workflows.

  • Familiarity with PACS and enterprise imaging environments.

  • Knowledge of 3D visualization concepts including MPR, MIP, and Volume Rendering.

Software Development

  • Strong web development experience.

  • Strong JavaScript and/or TypeScript experience.

  • Strong Angular development experience.

  • Experience with C# and .NET development.

  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test suites.

  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Modern Development Practices

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools.

  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with diagnostic imaging viewers or healthcare applications.

  • Experience with cloud technologies and modern web architectures.

  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 or FHIR.

  • Experience working in regulated software environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of software development experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver complex software features and solutions.

The salary range provided in this job posting is intended to reflect the general market value for the position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific requirements of the role. This range may also be subject to change as market conditions evolve. We encourage open communication throughout the interview process to discuss compensation expectations. For base-salary + commission sales roles, the range represents On-Target Earnings.
