Austin PBS, KLRU-TV is looking for an Education Intern to join our team. If you are a strong communicator, enjoy working with others, and are interested in supporting educational programs and outreach, we encourage you to apply!

Austin PBS is your locally owned, community-supported PBS station in Central Texas. With thousands of hours of programming across multiple platforms and hundreds of community events each year, Austin PBS has the potential to reach nearly every household daily.

Each year, we broadcast 35,000 hours of free, curated content across our four channels and the PBS app, covering arts, culture, history, public affairs, and both local and national news.

But we are more than just a TV station—we are a mission-driven nonprofit media organization. Our goal is to educate, inspire, and entertain Central Texans through engaging programming and community events. Last year alone, we hosted over 90 events with more than 100,000 attendees. Position Overview:

As an Education Intern, you'll be engaged in a variety of activities that help the Austin PBS Education team build awareness of and engagement with PBS educational resources for youth ages 2-18 years of age. Target audiences include educators, parents/caregivers, and children themselves. You must possess an appreciation for the power of PBS digital educational media to promote anywhere, anytime learning, and an ability to communicate that appreciation to the public. The job requires comfort with current technologies as well as with public engagement, including instruction for children and adults. The job also requires travel to different sites where Austin PBS Education works with partners.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain electronic devices (primarily tablets) for educational use
  • Maintain working links on Austin PBS Preschool Resource Guides and other curriculum documents
  • Analyze pre/post assessment data from Austin PBS workshops
  • Prepare metadata for ACC/Austin PBS education videos
  • Assist Austin PBS Education team at internal and external events (may include evenings & weekends)
  • Maintain inventory of Austin PBS Education supplies
  • Promote educational resources and our weekly Educator Newsletter to current and prospective teachers
  • Reach out to community agencies and pediatric medical facilities to build awareness of PBS KIDS media they and their clients can access

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate student, must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program during the full duration of the internship
  • Student must be available for a minimum of 13 weeks of this internship
  • Internship will be in-person, with some hybrid opportunities
  • 15-20 hour weekly commitment, preferably working daily
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Adept at social media
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!

Physical Demands:

The working conditions are primarily a general office setting, with some self-provided travel to off-site events and engagements
