We are seeking an experienced QCX Engineer to support quality control and commissioning activities on large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. This role will be responsible for verifying the quality, compliance, condition, installation, and documentation of critical electrical, mechanical, controls, and life-safety equipment from delivery through installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and final turnover.
The QCX Engineer will work closely with Owner representatives, Construction Management, General Contractors, trade contractors, engineering teams, commissioning teams, vendors, procurement, and logistics personnel to ensure equipment and systems meet approved project requirements and are properly documented and prepared for commissioning.
The ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of QA/QC experience within the mission-critical industry, strong field inspection and documentation skills, and a thorough understanding of construction quality processes and critical infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities:
Equipment Delivery Inspection & Verification
  • Perform receiving inspections for major electrical, mechanical, controls, life-safety, and critical infrastructure equipment delivered to the project site.
  • Verify delivered equipment against approved submittals, purchase orders, equipment schedules, specifications, drawings, and vendor documentation.
  • Confirm equipment manufacturer, model number, serial number, capacity, voltage, ratings, configuration, accessories, and quantities against approved project requirements.
  • Inspect equipment and packaging for evidence of shipping damage, moisture intrusion, corrosion, contamination, improper handling, or other deficiencies.
  • Verify equipment is delivered with required accessories, loose-shipped components, spare parts, specialty tools, installation materials, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Document equipment condition at receipt using photographs, receiving inspection reports, checklists, and other project quality records.
  • Confirm appropriate environmental and storage requirements are established for equipment awaiting installation.
  • Verify sensitive equipment is properly protected from weather, dust, moisture, temperature extremes, construction activities, and physical damage.
  • Coordinate with logistics, construction, and vendor teams when equipment arrives damaged, incomplete, incorrectly configured, or otherwise nonconforming.
  • Initiate and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), deficiency reports, damage reports, and corrective actions as required.
  • Verify deficiencies identified during receiving inspections are properly resolved and documented prior to installation.

Documentation Review & Quality Control
  • Review vendor and contractor documentation for compliance with project specifications, approved submittals, and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation demonstrating equipment compliance from delivery through installation, startup, testing, and commissioning.

  • Support document-control processes to ensure the latest approved revisions are being used in the field.

Installation Quality Verification
  • Perform field inspections to verify equipment installation complies with manufacturer requirements, approved drawings, project specifications, installation details, and applicable codes.
  • Verify equipment location, orientation, accessibility, anchorage, housekeeping pads, clearances, labeling, and identification.
  • Confirm delivered equipment remains properly protected throughout installation and construction.
  • Verify installation readiness prior to equipment startup and commissioning.
  • Participate in quality walks, construction completion walks, and punch-list inspections.
  • Document installation deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and Construction Management.
  • Verify closure of punch-list and quality-control items before systems are released for commissioning.

Quality Management & Coordination
  • Interface with Owner representatives, General Contractor, Construction Management, Engineering, Commissioning, Procurement, Logistics, Trade Contractors, and Equipment Vendors.
  • Participate in project quality meetings and equipment-delivery coordination meetings.
  • Maintain quality inspection logs and equipment receiving trackers.
  • Track open deficiencies, NCRs, corrective actions, and documentation gaps through closure.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and communicate trends to project leadership.
  • Support development and implementation of project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensure contractors follow approved project quality plans and inspection procedures.
  • Escalate significant equipment damage, specification deviations, or quality concerns to project leadership.
  • Assist with quality audits of contractor documentation and field activities.
  • Maintain clear traceability between equipment, inspection records, deficiencies, corrective actions, and final acceptance documentation.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
Skills Required:
  • 3+ years of QA/QC experience within the mission-critical industry, including data centers, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, or similar critical environments.
  • Experience performing field inspections and quality verification activities on mechanical, electrical, controls, life-safety, or other critical infrastructure systems.
