Prairieview Surgical Centre, part of Surgical Centres Inc., a division of Clearpoint Health, is a leading outpatient surgical facility known for compassionate, high-quality care is hiring Purchasing and Procurement Coordinator.

Position Overview

The Perioperative Support Attendant is a key member of the healthcare team responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient clinical environment while supporting patient care and surgical operations.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager and working under the direction of clinical staff, the Environmental / Perioperative Support Attendant performs environmental cleaning, patient transport, operating room support, and supply coordination across clinical areas including patient rooms, perioperative areas, operating rooms, post-anesthesia care units (PACU), and support departments such as Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR).

The role contributes to infection prevention, patient safety, and efficient clinical workflow by ensuring that patient care areas remain clean, organized, and properly supplied while supporting the multidisciplinary healthcare team

Position Type: Full time 0.6 FTE

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Services

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, isolation rooms, operating rooms, offices, and public areas.
  • Dust, wash, and polish furniture, fixtures, and non-clinical equipment.
  • Clean stretchers, wheelchairs, and patient transport equipment.
  • Collect and dispose of garbage, linens, and biohazard waste according to infection control standards.
  • Operate floor cleaning equipment such as scrubbers and buffers.
  • Respond to spills, body fluids, and other cleaning requirements following safety protocols.

Operating Room and Perioperative Support

  • Assist with preparation and turnover of operating rooms between surgical cases.
  • Ensure operating rooms and perioperative areas are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
  • Retrieve and transport equipment and supplies as requested by clinical staff.
  • Assist with patient positioning equipment and basic intraoperative support under supervision.

Supply and Inventory Support

  • Stock and replenish linens, surgical supplies, and consumables in clinical areas.
  • Maintain supply carts and storage areas.
  • Report low inventory or equipment issues to supervisors.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow hospital policies including infection prevention, WHMIS, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Use required protective equipment and maintain safe work practices.
  • Report hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Participate in required training, quality initiatives, and safety programs.

Qualifications

Education

  • Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent required
  • Healthcare aide, Personal Support Worker (PSW), or related training considered an asset

Experience

  • Experience in hospital housekeeping, environmental services, operating room support, or healthcare environment preferred

Skills

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Good command of English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily based in the medical facility’s storage and supply areas, with movement throughout the clinic as required.
