Job description

Position Summary

The R&D Engineering Intern will support the development of Vero’s next-generation nitric oxide delivery device, including both the drug product cassette and console. This role provides hands-on experience in engineering testing, data collection, and product development within a regulated medical device environment.

The intern will work closely with the R&D and cross-functional teams to execute test protocols, analyze data, and contribute to ongoing design and development efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Product Development:

  • Assist in building and modifying prototypes, fixtures, and test setups
  • Contribute to iterative testing and design improvements
  • Participate in design reviews and team discussions

Testing and Data Collection:

  • Execute engineering test protocols in a laboratory environment
  • Setup and operate test equipment and fixtures
  • Collect, organize, and document test data
  • Troubleshoot test setups and identify issues and areas for improvement

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze experimental data using tools such as Python, MATLAB, Excel
  • Generate clear and concise report summarizing test results and findings
  • Support development of test methods and reporting strategies

Process Development and Manufacturing:

  • Support the development and validation of manufacturing processes for the cassette and console.
  • Assist with facility and pilot line build-out activities as part of process scale-up efforts.

Design Controls:

  • Support documentation efforts in accordance with design control processes (ISO 13485)
  • Gain exposure to risk management and regulated product development processes

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a biomedical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering field
  • Strong interest in hands-on engineering, product development, and testing
  • Experience with laboratory work, prototyping, or engineering projects (coursework or prior internships)
