Responsibilities
Complete relevant training/internshipDevelop medical assistant skills by learning and demonstrating in the class and in the practiceMaintains attendance standard as per policyMaintains positive relations in all interactionsAssists with obtaining accurate vital signs and record in the EHRBegins work at the assigned time and remains until the end of the assigned shiftAssists with, obtains, and records patient medical history and specific information related to the reason for visitAssists with and prepares patient for examinations, testing, and procedures.Collects, prepares, and performs basic laboratory testsPhlebotomyTransports patients, equipment, specimens, blood, etc., as requiredPrepares and administers medications as directed by the physician/providerAssist with scheduling patient appointments and addressing patient phone calls appropriatelyMaintains patient and family confidentiality at all timesAssists with transmitting prescription refill requests as directed by the physician/providerMaintains a clean, neat and safe environment. Activities may include but are not limited to tidying room, cleaning equipment, changing bed linens, restocking work areas, keeping rooms and hallways clear of debris, emptying trash, defrosting refrigerators, cleaning cabinet surfaces, and completing discharge room cleans.Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuries to Manager.Qualifications
REQUIRED
High school diploma, equivalent education (GED), post-secondary education or (1) one year work experience.Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire Must submit to a color vision acuity test if duties are lab related. PREFERRED
