Product Engineer/Production Test Engineer

At Smartz Inc, we rely on our dynamic team of engineers to solve the many challenges and puzzles that come with integrating IoT smart devices. We are seeking a product engineer who is ready to work with new technologies and architectures in a forward-thinking organization that's always pushing boundaries.


You will assist in creating product requirements and you will test hardware integration of Internet of Things products. You will take a customer-centric approach to champion product features, functionality and experience and play a key role in the product development phases by collaborating with cross functional teams and stakeholders.

Smartz was founded in June of 2021 by Dr. Kevin Wan, who has been a successful entrepreneur in the smart home industry for more than 10 years. Our team at Smartz wants to disrupt the PropTech Industry by providing advanced AI software that is compatible with industry-leading smart home devices and will provide property owners and tenants with an all-in-one solution to all of their property management needs.


Our team uses the latest mobile technologies for all features of Smartz apps, which include live video streaming/recording, motion/sound alerts, AI-powered object detection, video access sharing functions, etc. We always strive to develop innovative features to create secure and smart device management experiences for our users and business partners.


Job Type

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand the hardware and software vision and roadmap for Internet of Things products
  • Own post release product quality by solving top engineering issues together with developers
  • Help hardware and software testing to improve quality before official release
  • Work closely with Technical Support team to classify and prioritize customer issues
  • Take tech support escalation as needed
  • Proactively define/build product metrics to identify issues
  • Build tools/processes which can easily propagate for new Smartz products
  • Schedule product release plan for App, Cloud, and firmware for Smartz
  • Communicate project plan, priority, and schedule to internal teams and partners
  • Work as QA to assure every release meets predefined quality bar
  • Improve release processes. Utilize external tools as appropriate
  • Continually work towards making improvements in QA and release process
  • Demonstrates teamwork and values that foster a positive team culture

Technical Skills Requirements

  • 2+years' experience in IT, Network, QA, device/system installation or relevant technology field
  • Passionate about Smart Home and IoT devices
  • Strong problem-solving skill with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent internal and external communication skill
  • Understanding of Systems development life cycle and agile development

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Network, IT, security systems, or related technology field preferred
