Job description

Description:

The Senior Buyer position is a key role requiring an enthusiastic self-starter with a strong drive to improve existing processes and systems. Excellent organizational skills, an ability to balance immediate/long-term priorities, and exceptional multitasking skills are a necessity in a manufacturing environment. Key objectives are the achievement of supplier management, project budget/delivery tracking, and on-time contract manufacturing of medical devices for surgical sets. This position will report to the Purchasing Manager and will work directly with the department to support the supply chain activities within the company. This position works closely with the materials department and engineering to source the necessary materials based on their requirements. Once quotes are sourced and orders are placed with vendors, constant and daily communication is maintained between the suppliers and internal departments, along with working with the Unit Directors until the orders are received.


Responsibilities

  • Sourcing of various quotes and maintenance of their status.
  • Maintenance of status reports and logs.
  • Manage inventory for MRO and legacy products.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage the materials for delivering time-critical components to support assigned product lines.
  • Create Purchase Orders; maintain accurate open PO lines to define inbound quantities and due dates from vendors.
  • Identify potential supply risks and inventory exposures by aligning supply chain processes with product development project plan milestones.
  • Collect and analyze data needed to assess requirements.
  • Track material flow and cost for all suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Identify critical path, and works with Manager to come up with risk mitigation/contingency strategies for potential schedule slips/material shortages.
  • Create Ad hoc reports/analysis.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Senior Purchasing or Buyer role (planning/procurement).
  • Medical Device industry preferred, or 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
  • Capable of managing numerous production timelines across multiple ongoing projects.
  • ERP experience, SAP preferred.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written).
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and reach quickly to changing priorities.
  • Teamwork: Able to work concurrently with all levels of staff in such a manner as to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years in relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
