Jacobs is seeking a Municipal Code Compliance Officer II, based in Centennial, CO. Employees in this class demonstrate ongoing mastery of the technical duties necessary to execute the requirements of the City's code compliance programs and can easily manage the routine requirements of the position. Employee demonstrates the necessary problem-solving skills to manage most circumstances that may arise in the daily performance of monitoring and enforcing nuisance, land use, property maintenance, noise, junk or inoperable vehicles, commercial vehicles and other codes and ordinances designed to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents, and the general quality of life. The employee serves as a resource and provides information on City regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, and the general public, along with other City departments and divisions. Is a resource for and assists junior officers with technical questions, code interpretation and application and problem resolution. is an entry-level position. Employees in this class work with minimal supervision as a part of a team and with other City departments to identify and enforce nuisance, land use, and other codes and ordinances designed to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents, and the general quality of life. The employee serves as a resource and provides information on City regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, and the public, along with other City departments and divisions. Employees must have a current driver's license and must maintain a clean driving record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enforces City codes and ordinances pertaining to nuisance and land use.
  • Responds to citizen concerns and complaints and City Council requests.
  • Schedules and performs systematic property inspections to maintain or achieve minimum property standards.
  • Prepares records and reports pertaining to daily activities, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  • Compiles documentation for and issues summons, administrative citations, request for abatement hearings and any other court action with approval of supervisor
  • Testifies in municipal court as required.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Here's what you'll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months experience in customer service, or enforcement- / compliance-related work including investigating allegations, conducting research and resolving complaints, concerns or conflicts.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
  • Handle sensitive or stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; make presentations;
  • Must be capable of personally driving a company vehicle in the performance of the duties contained herein.
  • Obtain state certification from Colorado Association of Code Enforcement (CACEO), as soon as course is offered.
  • Must be able to pass screening for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS).
Ideally, You'll Also Have:
  • Some education in or knowledge of Environmental Studies, Planning, Law Enforcement, Public Administration or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the code enforcement / compliance field.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens and elected officials;
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain City codes, site plans, maps and work plans.

The base salary range for this position is $55,120.00 to $68,640.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
