Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the clinic schedule and patient placement in the clinic, based on need, while assisting with procedures and preparing patients for examination.
  • Triage patients directly for appointment intake to include obtaining medical/social/surgical/familial histories, prepare patients for examinations, and assist the provider during examinations or in-office procedures.
  • Under the supervision of a licensed professional, the employee can send refills for prescriptions as directed, perform electrocardiograms or similar testing, administer medications/vaccines, assist with administering screening questionnaires, phlebotomy, obtaining vital signs and additional in-office testing, as needed for the specialty.
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections, as directed by a licensed provider.
  • Contacts the patient/caregiver/family with results and provides further education, as directed by the ordering/overseeing provider.
  • Perform or delegate administrative duties such as understanding office computer applications, answering phones, welcoming patients, updating and filing patient medical records, completing insurance forms, scheduling appointments and handling correspondence; arrange and schedule hospital admissions and other ancillary services and referrals to other providers, as needed.
  • Documents all patient interaction efficiently within the electronic medical record.
  • Under the direction and supervision of the provider prepare procedure equipment and assists with in-office procedures.
  • Maintain and follow standard precautions, as trained, and use infection control best practices for all patient interactions and equipment/exam rooms maintenance.
  • Manage clinic appointment schedules and confirm all items needed for these appointments are accounted for by obtaining necessary medical records, working with insurance plans for appropriate authorization, working with patients for any additional appointments/imaging needed prior to the appointment.
  • Maintains exam rooms are fully stocked.
  • Assist with supply ordering and invetory.
  • Basic coding and filing of insurance forms and conducting preauthorization work and obtaining appropriate certifications
  • Serve as a patient advocate to ensure the patient feels at ease and be able to explain clearly physician or providers instructions and recommendations.
  • Participates in quality initiatives, process improvements, and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and patient safety
  • Ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
