Job Description:

AMBULATORY MEDICAL ASST.

Under the direction of the Physician/NP, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient care and technical duties to support the work of the Physician/NP and to facilitate delivery of care and education to patients.  The Medical Assistant works closely with the professional staff to provide care and diagnostic testing for patients, throughout the facility. 

Escort patients to exam room and throughout facility, as needed.

Stock, prepare and turnaround exam/procedure rooms.

Prepare patients for all medical treatments or examinations and assist physicians/NPs as needed.

Provide services to Occupational Medicine patients in compliance with all clinical and regulatory guidelines. Duties include, but are not limited to, drug screen collections/ BAT’s, audiogram testing, and EKG’s/PFT’s/mask fitting.  

Provide general patient care services, including but not limited to, taking patient’s vital information and conversing with patients to complete records.  Enter all data into electronic health record, adhering to all Meaningful Use requirements.

Perform phlebotomy, venipuncture, finger sticks in accordance with established departmental procedures.

Perform specimen processing functions including centrifugation, coordinating lab referral requisitions and packing specimens for transport. Perform POC (point of care) testing as needed.

Coordinate testing and consultations, as necessary. Follow up with test results in a timely manner and assist with patient education.

Order, organize and maintain inventory of clinical supplies. Complete daily check of code cart with documentation and replacement of outdated and/or used supplies.

Perform calibrations and inspections of all equipment per regulations.  Maintain appropriate documentation.

Fill prescriptions (electronically) as requested.

Perform other related duties as required. Supports front desk duties as needed (phones, check in, co-pay collection, etc.)

Pay Range:

$21.00 - $28.26

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
