Job description

Position Summary: Responsible for charge entry and auditing of provider charges to identify missing or incorrect data for services. Works with other departments when necessary to ensure timely and accurate charges to patients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:
1. Processes charge forms for data entry to enter accurate information into billing system.
2. Checks for accuracy of information, matching verifications, checking for valid medical information, diagnoses, insurance, and patient information, and makes necessary corrections.
3. Contacts the appropriate source to retrieve missing data.
4. Maintains a charge entry status/communication log.
5. Utilizes appropriate system applications to complete patient demographics.
6. Performs clerical duties including filing as needed.
7. Other related duties as assigned.
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of charge entry, medical billing or coding experience

Preferred:
  • Medical billing certification
  • Experience with insurance provider-based billing procedures
  • Medical billing or coding certification
