SALARY RANGE: 21.68 - 32.52 HOURLY
General Summary:
Position is responsible all aspects of the medical billing process from generating completed medical claims submissions to a completed and paid A/R. Abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, and assigns appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to unfinished medical claims. Maintain full cycle of medical billing from completed claims' submission to full claim's payments.
Responsibilities:
1. Code correct medical billing claims generated from the EMR and submit the claims correctly from the first time.
2. When needed, abstracts data from patients' medical records to maintain full diagnosis coding and charges capture.
3. The Medical Biller reviews and analyzes records for errors and corrects them immediately.
4. Identifies and verifies medical necessity from updated medical policies published by the insurance carriers.
5. Inform the responsible channels of all issues that create loss of reimbursement, constant errors and other issues pertaining to management issues.
6. Maintain daily A/R functions and being responsible for any revenue cycle issues due to medical billing issues.
7. As needed, respond to physician inquiries that concern the proper documentation of diagnostic procedural information and questions regarding coding assignments.
8. As needed, respond to patient inquiries concerning invoicing or related financial issues.
9. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
