  • Utilize slow time constructively to enhance clinic operations and assist other
    departments when time and workload permits

  • Promptly inform supervisor of real-time or potential clinic issues or concerns

  • Meet work schedules, fulfill responsibilities and commitments (i.e. attendance,
    punctuality, dependability, initiative, productivity and efficiency)

  • Maintain awareness of new information applicable to job (i.e. policies, meeting minutes,
    procedures, memos, and protocols, etc.)

  • Understand and support organizational goals

  • Maintain professional appearance and follow established dress code

  • Demonstrate the ability to identify personal areas of needed improvement and formulate goals to work on these areas of improvement

Direct and Indirect Patient Care / Clinic Responsibilities:

  • Measure and record patient vital signs

  • Assist Medical Providers with patient examinations and medical procedures as necessary, such as sterile dressings, EKGs, pulmonary treatments, etc.

  • Administer medications and injections as directed by Medical Provider

  • Perform proper handling and labeling of all test samples according to organizational policies

  • Perform basic diagnostic tests (e.g. EKG, vision testing, etc.) under Medical Provider supervision

  • Actively assist with routine clinic tasks. Utilize established methods to ensure
    consistency in maintaining emergency supplies, stock medications, forms, equipment, and appropriate exam room inventory, etc.

  • Assist with patient education based on assessment of patient needs and clinic standards of nursing care and documents in patient record

  • Assume role of advocate to ensure health needs are met including responding to patient
    phone messages and requests in a timely and professional manner

  • Assist with triage patients on-site and via telephone for appropriateness and timeliness of care per provider preference

  • Follow all established Infection Control guidelines and OSHA standards and participate in staff training events

  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and common areas

  • Perform effectively and appropriately in emergency situations

  • Maintain confidentiality of patients and staff

  • Assist with documentation of Medical Provider orders, nursing actions, and interventions in patient’s medical record in accordance with clinic policies

  • Assist with keeping patients or their families informed of situations that arise in the clinic such as extended waiting times, being asked to see provider other than originally scheduled, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Education:

Minimum Required: Medical Assistant certification, preferred

Experience:

Minimum Required: Minimal/No Experience

Preferred: One to two years of experience

Skills:
