Job description

If so, apply today! Primary ResponsibilitiesMonitor and update pathology cases within the laboratory information system (LIS).Answer phone calls and requests from physicians and pathologists regarding case/report status.Obtain and provide additional patient history or prior reports as requested by pathologists.Print, fax, scan, and distribute pathology reports and outside medical documents.Enter case comments and maintain accurate case documentation within the LIS.Scan outside consultation documents into the appropriate patient/case.Assist transcription staff with transferring gross descriptions into the LIS using our AI system.Provide occasional administrative support to the billing department.Provide backup support to other areas of the department when staffing needs require.Maintain strict confidentiality when handling patient and pathology information.Consistently trains on and learns the transcription procedure(s) to serve as backup, when needed.Performs special projects and other duties as assigned in a timely manner.Ideal CandidatePrevious medical office, laboratory, pathology, or healthcare administrative experience strongly preferred.Familiarity with medical terminology required; pathology terminology is a strong plus.Previous experience working with an LIS, EMR, EHR, or other healthcare information system preferred.Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software systems quickly.Excellent typing, data-entry, and general clerical skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Comfortable communicating professionally with physicians, pathologists, coworkers, and management.Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.Able to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Must be dependable, professional, adaptable, and able to work well as part of a team.Strong customer-service skills and professional telephone etiquette.Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and discretion.Must be comfortable working independently, using good judgment, and escalating issues when necessary.EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Medical terminology, medical transcription, pathology terminology, or business/secretarial training is preferred.ScheduleFull-time, Monday–Friday, approximately 40 hours per week.Schedule flexibility may occasionally be required based on departmental needs. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, computer-savvy, and comfortable working in a busy medical environment. The ideal candidate will be able to learn our systems and processes quickly, communicate confidently with physicians and staff, and comfortably manage several competing priorities throughout the day.
