Job description

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for rheumatology examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medication lists, allergies, and patient history.
  • Assist the rheumatologist with examinations, procedures, and in-office treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical supplies.
  • Perform injections, and clinical duties as permitted by training and applicable scope of practice.
  • Assist with biologic therapy and infusion-related patient care as directed by the clinical team.
  • Coordinate laboratory orders, imaging, referrals, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients as directed.
  • Assist with medication prior authorizations, refill requests, and patient medication questions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Monitor and follow up on patient messages, clinical tasks, and provider orders.
  • Maintain infection-control, HIPAA, OSHA, and patient-safety standards.
  • Provide professional, compassionate, and efficient patient care.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and adequately stocked clinical environment.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience required; specialty practice experience preferred.
  • Rheumatology or other specialty-clinic experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical procedures, vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
