Job description

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program

  • Three years’ experience.

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA or other).

  • CPR Certification required.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant Scribe enters information into the electronic medical record or chart at the direction of the physician or licensed independent practitioner. The primary goal of the medical assistant scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician.   The medical assistant scribe accurately documents events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. The medical assistant scribe must be able to anticipate physician’s needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic.  The medical assistant scribe must demonstrate good judgment, organizational skills, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated. The medical assistant scribe will not act independently nor enter orders in the EMR.  The Joint Commission prohibits the medical assistant scribe from acting independently, but can document previously determined clinician’s or practitioner’s dictation and/or activities. The Joint Commission prohibits the medical assistant scribe from entering orders in the patient’s EMR.  The medical assistant scribe has no clinical assistant duties while performing in the role of scribe during a patient encounter.  The medical assistant scribe is accountable to the physician and has a direct reporting relationship to the clinic manager.

When the medical assistant scribe is not assigned to perform in the scribe role, the medical assistant scribe is expected to fulfill all expectations and responsibilities of the Medical Assistant II C1797.

Salary Range:  Actual salary commensurate with experience.

 

Work Schedule:

Full-time, 40 hours per week.
