Job description

Medical Assistant – Orthopedic Trauma


Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with lunch from 12:00 PM–1:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant with strong orthopedic trauma experience to support a fast-paced orthopedic clinic in Lakewood. This role is best suited for someone who has at least 6 months of hands-on orthopedic trauma experience and is comfortable working with a high daily patient volume, multiple providers, and injury-related clinical workflows.

Orthopedic trauma experience is required. Candidates should be familiar with orthopedic terminology, common orthopedic injuries, braces, casts, splints, crutches, walkers, and related patient care needs. Experience supporting fracture care, sports injuries, joint concerns, and injury documentation is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

·         Prepare patients for examination and treatment, including obtaining patient histories and vital signs.

·         Prepare exam and treatment rooms and maintain necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.

·         Assist providers and clinical staff with patient flow in a high-volume orthopedic setting.

·         Support 3–4 providers, depending on daily clinic needs.

·         Use Centricity EMR to document patient information accurately.

·         Answer and respond to calls directed to the Medical Assistant line.

·         Maintain a professional, team-oriented approach while working alongside multiple Medical Assistants and clinic staff.

Required Experience and Qualifications

·         Minimum of 6 months of orthopedic trauma experience is required.

·         Experience in a fast-paced clinic with an average patient volume of 30+ patients per day is strongly preferred.

·         Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, 12 months of direct clinical patient care experience in a healthcare setting, or current Medical Assistant certification.

·         Active RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, NCRMA certification, or ABR-OE credentials are highly preferred.

·         Candidates without current certification may be considered, but certification will be required after hire based on clinic requirements.

·         X-ray certification is not required.
