Medical Assistant - Oncology & Infusion Center

Location: Hartford, CT

Hours: Monday - Friday, shift times may vary between 7:00am - 5:30pm

Join our growing Outpatient Oncology & Infusion Center in Hartford, CT, where you'll play a vital role supporting patients as they navigate cancer treatment and infusion therapies. We're seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant who thrives in a collaborative healthcare environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

What You'll Do

As an integral member of our oncology team, you will:

  • Prepare exam rooms, infusion areas, and clinical supplies for patient visits.

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, health histories, medication lists, and allergy information.

  • Assist physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff during patient visits and procedures.

  • Coordinate patient flow to ensure a positive and efficient experience.

  • Document clinical information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).

  • Process laboratory specimens and assist with diagnostic testing coordination.

  • Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, referrals, and diagnostic services.

  • Provide compassionate support and education to oncology and hematology patients and families.

  • Answer patient calls, relay messages, and communicate effectively with providers and care teams.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, HIPAA, and quality standards.

What You'll Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program preferred.

  • National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice, specialty clinic, oncology, infusion, or ambulatory setting preferred.

  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.

  • Experience with Epic or other electronic medical records systems preferred.

  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients facing complex medical conditions.
