What is a medical assistant medical spa?

Medical Assistant Medical Spa professionals are trained healthcare workers who support medical and cosmetic procedures in a spa or aesthetic clinic setting. They assist licensed providers such as doctors, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants by preparing patients, managing medical records, performing basic clinical tasks, and sometimes aiding in minimally invasive cosmetic treatments. Their role blends traditional medical assistant duties with specialized knowledge in cosmetic and skincare services. They help ensure patient safety, comfort, and efficient clinic operations.

What are the typical responsibilities of a medical assistant medical spa, and how do they differ from traditional clinical environments?

As a Medical Assistant in a medical spa, your daily responsibilities often include supporting licensed providers during cosmetic procedures, preparing treatment rooms, managing client records, and performing non-invasive treatments under supervision. Unlike traditional medical offices, you'll also focus on client education about skincare products and post-procedure care, while ensuring a high level of customer service. The environment is typically more client-focused and wellness-oriented, requiring strong interpersonal skills and an interest in aesthetics. Collaboration with aestheticians, nurses, and physicians is common, providing a dynamic and team-based work experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a medical assistant medical spa, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Medical Assistant in a Medical Spa, you need a solid understanding of clinical procedures, skincare treatments, and medical terminology, typically backed by a medical assistant certification or relevant training. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), cosmetic treatment devices (such as lasers or injectables), and appointment scheduling systems is often required. Exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help build trust with clients and support team collaboration. These skills and qualifications are essential for delivering safe, efficient care while ensuring a positive client experience in a fast-paced spa environment.

Licensed Medical Aesthetician

Aurora Medical Spa - Des Peres, MO

Applies to: Licensed Aestheticians in Missouri - active Missouri license required

Use case: Full-time skincare provider role at our Des Peres, MO

Purpose

Aurora Medical Spa is hiring a full-time Licensed Medical Aesthetician for our Des Peres, MO location - the flagship clinic where Aurora began in 2006. We are looking for a skincare professional who brings clinical precision, genuine client investment, and a desire to grow within the team and location that started it all.

About Aurora Medical Spa - Des Peres

Des Peres is where Aurora began - and nearly two decades later, it remains the standard every other location is measured against.

Situated in the heart of West St. Louis County, our Des Peres location has been Aurora's home since the very beginning. This is where our culture was built, our standards were established, and our reputation was earned - one client at a time, over nearly two decades of consistent, results-driven care.

Des Peres is a community that expects quality and recognizes it immediately. Our clients here are discerning, loyal, and often long-tenured - many have been coming to Aurora for years, and they return not just because of the treatments, but because of the relationships they've built with our team. The providers who thrive at Des Peres understand that this trust was hard-earned and take genuine pride in upholding it.

We are a certified Great Place to Work, and Des Peres is where that culture was born. You will work alongside some of Aurora's most experienced providers in a clinic that sets the tone for everything we do across our entire network.

Joining the Des Peres team means joining the location that started Aurora. The standards here are high because the clients here have come to expect them - and our team wouldn't have it any other way.

About the Role

This is a full-time, in-person aesthetician position serving Aurora's most established clientele. You will conduct individualized skincare consultations, develop and execute customized treatment plans, and build a loyal book of clients who return to you because the results and relationship you offer are simply not found elsewhere.

The Des Peres team is Aurora's most experienced, and the mentorship and collaborative support available to you here reflects that. You will have access to advanced treatment technologies, a deep institutional knowledge base, and a leadership team that has been refining what great aesthetician support looks like for nearly twenty years. No prior medical spa experience is required - what we need is your Missouri license, your passion for skin, and your commitment to doing the work right.

Please note: an active Missouri Aesthetician license is required for this position.

How We Invest in Your Growth

Des Peres is where Aurora's training culture was developed - and you will have access to all of it.

What You Can Expect

  • Hands-on clinical onboarding built around the Des Peres team's established protocols and treatment menu
  • Access to Aurora's full suite of advanced skincare technologies, professional product lines, and treatment modalities
  • Ongoing continuing education and formal professional development opportunities throughout your career
  • Direct mentorship from some of Aurora's longest-tenured and most experienced providers
  • Leadership that has spent years developing aestheticians and knows exactly how to help you grow

Who Is the Right Fit

The aestheticians who thrive at Aurora Des Peres bring a particular combination of clinical skill and personal investment.

Standard-Driven

You hold yourself to a high bar - not because someone is watching, but because you understand what the Des Peres client expects and you take that seriously. You approach every treatment with the same intention, whether it is a new client's first visit or a longtime regular's standing appointment.

Client-Invested

You build relationships that outlast any single treatment. You listen closely, remember details, follow up thoughtfully, and show up as a consistent, trusted presence in your clients' skincare journeys. Long-term client retention is something you take personal pride in.

Collaborative by Nature

You contribute to the team as much as you perform within it. You communicate openly, support your fellow providers, and understand that the Des Peres experience is a team effort - one that every person in the clinic plays a role in delivering.

Committed to Craft

You are genuinely curious about advancing your skills, interested in new treatment modalities, and motivated by the idea of becoming one of the best aestheticians in the St. Louis market. Aurora Des Peres has the infrastructure and the history to support that ambition.

Responsibilities

Core clinical and client-facing duties at our Des Peres, MO flagship clinic.

  • Conduct thorough skincare consultations and develop individualized, results-driven treatment plans
  • Perform a full range of advanced aesthetic treatments with clinical precision and consistent, high-quality care
  • Educate clients on home care routines, professional product recommendations, and follow-up treatment plans
  • Cultivate lasting client relationships that drive retention, rebooking, and referrals within the West St. Louis County community
  • Maintain accurate, complete documentation of all treatments and client records
  • Collaborate with injectors, wellness providers, and front desk staff to deliver fully integrated client outcomes
  • Uphold Des Peres' cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards - the benchmark for the Aurora network

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Missouri Aesthetician license - current, valid, and in good standing
  • Clear, professional communication with clients and team members

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a medical spa, dermatology office, or results-focused aesthetics environment
