They assist healthcare professionals with administrative and clinical tasks such as taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, preparing examination rooms, and handling basic laboratory procedures. The internship is designed to help them apply their classroom knowledge, develop practical skills, and better understand the workflow in medical offices or healthcare facilities. This experience is often a requirement or recommendation for completing a medical assistant training program and can improve job prospects after graduation.

Typical tasks may include scheduling patient appointments, taking vital signs, preparing examination rooms, assisting with minor procedures, and updating medical records. You'll often work closely with nurses, physicians, and other medical assistants, gaining practical experience and insights into patient care.
