Job Summary:Performs job duties in accordance with Medical Assistant Training/Certification or LPN Licensure and in accordance with MMC Clinical Policies and Procedures; performs job functions in collaboration with the LPN Supervisor in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all assigned patients. Position calls for a measure of independent judgment and the ability to set patient care priorities.


Essential Duties

Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on the application of scientific principles, under the supervision of the RN Supervisor, LPN Supervisor or Medical Provider. Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Assists in relevant health teaching for patient and family. Participates in in-services and meetings, sharing knowledge, information and ideas among team members. Participates in emergency care. Records information concisely, accurately, and completely. Triage patients preparing for medical treatment by Medical Provider. Responsible for the neatness of work area. Documents appropriately in electronic medical record system. Attend training and meetings required. Performs other related duties and projects in a dependable, cooperative, team spirit manner as tasks are assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff and customers. Ability to manage information security systems. Knowledge of general office practices. Must possess a high degree of integrity and trustworthiness and the ability to work independently. Knowledge of the HIPAA security rule and other related laws.

Education:

High School Graduate or GED. Completion of Medical Assistant Certification or LPN State Licensure obtained. Basic Life Support Certification and/or Medical coding a plus. One (1) year of clinical practice preferred.
