Job description

Podiatric Office currently has full-time opportunities for Medical Assistant to join its dynamic clinical team in the Northern VA area.
The candidate will assist physician with patient care duties in a Podiatric environment with supportive, clinical tasks, as well as pertinent administrative tasks as listed below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical
- Responsible for clinic patient flow via efficient and clear communication with the clinician and the implementation of effective time management skills
- Escort patients to and from exam and procedure rooms in a professional manner
- Document pertinent patient data in the EHR, including but not limited to vital signs, patient medical history, reconciliation of medication and allergy profiles, etc.
- Perform a variety of testing, diagnostic, and screening procedures prior to the clinician engaging the patient, such as Xrays foot/ankle, procedure tray setup, Ultrasound setup, Cold laser setup, Nail fungal laser setup, etc.
- Administer medications via different routes as directed by a clinician
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
- Casting patients for orthotics
- Apply fiberglass short leg casts
- Assists in explaining test procedures to patients
- Disinfect and stock exam/procedure rooms at the end of each shift
- Perform other related, clinical duties as assigned
Administrative
- Manage telephone lines, prescription voicemail line, and e-fax inboxes
- While adhering to HIPAA guidelines, convey protected health information (PHI) to patients as delegated by a clinician
- Assist in arranging Direct Admission to Hospital
- Assist in scheduling outpatient/inpatient surgery
- Perform other related, administrative duties as assigned
Education/Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program required
- Previous employment in a Podiatric Office preferred, but experience in an Internist, and/or Urgent care setting acceptable
Experience
- Previous employment in a Podiatric Office preferred, but experience in an Internist, and/or Urgent care setting acceptable
License/Certification/Registration
- Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) required
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association preferred
