Job Title: Medical Assembler

Job Description

This role involves working in a clean room environment to assemble and manufacture a variety of French catheters used in medical applications. You will perform detailed manual assembly, stringing, reflow, visual inspection, and final packaging of products using small hand tools, tweezers, and microscopes. Many of the catheter builds are complex and can include up to 17 different stages, so you will learn multiple processes and flex across different product lines and assemblies as needed. This is a hands-on position that requires strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work with very small components under magnification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual and hand assembly of French catheters and related medical devices in a clean room environment.
  • Assemble catheter components through multiple build stages, including braiding, stretching, and pulling catheters by hand.
  • String catheters and carry out reflow processes according to established work instructions and production standards.
  • Use microscopes to perform precise assembly tasks and to inspect small components and finished products.
  • Operate small hand tools such as tweezers, cutters, pliers, and other basic tools required for catheter assembly.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections of in-process and finished products to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Follow detailed work instructions, standard operating procedures, and production documentation accurately and consistently.
  • Perform clean room assembly tasks while adhering to gowning requirements and contamination control procedures.
  • Support packaging and final packaging activities, ensuring products are correctly labeled, packaged, and prepared for shipment.
  • Work across different product lines and assembly areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to be cross-trained.
  • Collaborate with team members in a production environment to meet daily and weekly output goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with clean room and safety standards.
  • Use basic computer skills to enter production data, follow electronic work instructions, or record inspection results as required.
  • Adapt to increasing complexity of builds over time and continuously improve speed and accuracy as training progresses.
  • Be open to transitioning to another nearby facility after the initial assignment period, based on performance and business needs.

Essential Skills

  • 6+ months to 1 year of medical assembly experience, preferably with catheter assemblies.
  • 6+ months to 1 year of experience using a microscope for assembly or inspection tasks.
  • 6+ months to 1 year of experience using basic hand tools such as tweezers, cutters, and pliers in a production or assembly setting.
  • Demonstrated hand dexterity and comfort with detailed manual and hands-on assembly work.
  • Ability and willingness to perform repetitive manual tasks such as braiding, stretching, and pulling catheters by hand.
  • Experience working in a clean room or controlled environment, or strong willingness to follow clean room protocols.
  • Basic computer skills to follow instructions and record simple production or inspection data.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment.
  • Flexibility to be cross-trained and to work in multiple product lines and assembly areas.
  • Reliability and commitment to consistent attendance and meeting scheduled work hours.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in medical device assembly, especially catheter or guidewire assembly, is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with microscope-based assembly or inspection in a clean room setting.
  • Comfort working with very small components and performing fine motor tasks over extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality, with the ability to identify defects during visual inspection.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and advance through different skill levels and roles over time.
  • Openness to part-time or flexible schedules where available, with clear communication on weekly hour commitments.

Why Work Here?

You will join a growing organization that offers a clear and structured career path with multiple levels to advance through, including opportunities to move into higher-level assembly, research and development support, lead, and inspection roles. The company promotes a strong family-like culture and regularly organizes events such as picnics, barbecues, jersey days, and group outings, creating an inclusive and engaging workplace. Employees benefit from a comprehensive total rewards package that may include a zero-cost health insurance plan option, a health savings account with company contributions, paid time off, paid holidays, a 401(k) with company match, and competitive compensation. With plans to grow significantly, the organization provides ample opportunities for professional development, skill-building, and long-term career growth.

Work Environment

The role requires full clean room gowning, including smock, hair net, glasses, and other protective attire, and you will use microscopes, small hand tools, and other assembly equipment on a daily basis. The primary schedule is a first-shift position, typically running from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime commonly scheduled on Fridays through at least the end of the year. The facility supports both full-time and part-time arrangements, and for part-time roles, schedules are tailored based on the number of hours per week and daily availability.
