Job description

The Licensed Esthetician provides professional aesthetic services within a physician-led ophthalmology practice. This position delivers exceptional patient care by performing approved aesthetic procedures, educating patients regarding treatment options and skincare, and supporting the safe and effective delivery of aesthetic services.
The Licensed Esthetician performs aesthetic procedures, including laser- and light-based treatments, in accordance with applicable law, professional licensure, physician-approved protocols, organizational credentialing requirements, and any required supervision or delegation. The position partners closely with physicians and other clinical staff to provide a safe, compliant, and exceptional patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform aesthetic procedures within the individual's education, licensure, certification, competency validation, and legally authorized scope of practice
  • Perform aesthetic procedures, including laser- and light-based treatments, in accordance with applicable law, physician-approved protocols, organizational credentialing requirements, and any required supervision or delegation.
  • Conduct patient consultations, review medical history, evaluate treatment goals, identify contraindications, and determine appropriate treatment recommendations in collaboration with the physician when indicated.
  • Educate patients regarding available aesthetic services, expected outcomes, risks, aftercare instructions, and physician-dispensed skincare products.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and ensure informed consent documentation is completed as required.
  • Capture standardized before-and-after clinical photographs in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Perform pre- and post-treatment skincare.
  • Monitor patient comfort and response throughout treatments and promptly communicate adverse reactions or clinical concerns.
  • Operate laser, light-based, and other aesthetic equipment safely and according to protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
  • Maintain treatment rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Follow all laser safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff.
  • Maintain HIPAA, OSHA, and infection prevention compliance.
  • Participate in ongoing education and competency training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required
  • Current Georgia Esthetician License in good standing.
  • Completion of an accredited esthetics program.
  • Current Cosmetic Laser Practitioner credentials required for assigned services, or ability to obtain within established timeframe if required.
  • Knowledge of skin anatomy, infection prevention, and aesthetic procedures.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and documentation skills.
Preferred
  • Two or more years of experience in medical aesthetics, ophthalmology, dermatology, plastic surgery, or cosmetic practice.
  • Experience performing laser and light-based procedures.
  • Experience with physician-dispensed skincare lines.
  • CPR/BLS certification.

  • Knowledge of esthetic practices and skincare.
  • Knowledge of laser safety and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to recognize contraindications requiring physician evaluation.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for prolonged periods, perform fine motor tasks, position patients safely, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions
Clinical/medical office environment with exposure to laser and light-based equipment while utilizing required protective equipment.
Scope of Practice
The Licensed Esthetician performs only those services authorized by applicable law, professional licensure, organizational credentialing, documented competency, physician-approved protocols, and Thomas Eye Group policies. Performance of laser, light-based, or other energy-based procedures requires completion of all required education, competency validation, and any applicable licensure or certification requirements. The Licensed Esthetician shall immediately communicate any patient condition, complication, or circumstance outside his or her authorized scope of practice to the appropriate physician or licensed healthcare provider.
