POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Faculty - Medical Administrative Assistant/ Office Administration Programs (Open Rank - Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor)
DEPARTMENT: Business Administration
REPORTS TO: Dean, School of Business, Industry, and Career Programs
POSITION STATUS: Full-time, tenure track, MCCC/MTA unit position with benefits. The title of this position will be Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor, depending on the selected candidate's experience. This position may be eligible for release time as department chair or coordinator, which would include working with accreditors and related reporting.
LOCATION: Courses may be offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities in Fall River, Attleboro, New Bedford, and/or Taunton.
START DATE: Academic Year 2027 (Fall Semester, 2026)
SALARY: $57,289 - $74,369 - actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This faculty position resides within the School of Business, Industry, and Career programs and will be responsible for teaching a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) course schedule in the Medical Administrative Assistant (MAA) and Office Administration (OFC) programs, including, but not limited to, those listed in our Academic Catalog. Courses may be held at our Fall River, New Bedford, Attleboro, and Taunton locations and/or in online/hybrid modalities as assigned. The full-time instructor will play a critical role in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student learning outcomes and overall success for the academic area and Bristol Community College.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare students to become Certified Medical Administrative Assistants (CMAA) as demonstrated through the National Healthcare Association competencies which are currently incorporated into the MAA courses.
  • Teach a full-time (15 credit hours per semester) schedule of courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.
  • Assess student learning and assign grades through equitable and inclusive pedagogies and assessment strategies.
  • Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including duties such as, but not limited to, developing curricula to address course and student learning outcomes and General Education competencies as appropriate, completing book orders, creating syllabi, verifying student enrollment, and submitting final grades by the contractual deadline.
  • Foster student success across the college's diverse student body, and address equity gaps, through innovative teaching and learning approaches as well as curriculum development.
  • Incorporate High-Impact Practices (HIPs) into curricular and pedagogical approaches, with emphasis on HIPs that provide students with real-world experiences such as Service-Learning and internship opportunities.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students.
  • Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.
  • Serve on college committees as elected or appointed.
  • Attend program, department, academic area, all-college and committee/council meetings.
  • Recommend suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions.
  • Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
  • Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues, to teach online as needed, and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
  • Engage in professional development activities through participation in conferences, workshops, seminars, and professional associations to maintain excellence in the discipline and in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
  • Actively participate in the general college community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Complete required training such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, and Information Security.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Develop and improve office administration programs by working collaboratively with other faculty members and administrators through program reviews and advisory board committees; assist with recruitment of qualified advisory board members as needed.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Management or related field. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field will be considered, as long as they make progress toward obtaining a Master's degree in a related field within two years of the date of hire.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience as an office assistant/manager or related position.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience at the college/university level or equivalent industry training experience in office administration, facilitating courses such as office procedures, EHR, office management, medical terminology, Office 365 applications, and front-end office duties.
  • Must be flexible in the acceptance of new and changing teaching assignments.
  • Demonstrated experience in curricular planning and assessment, as well as demonstrated use of innovative educational learning techniques and technologies to enhance student learning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven technological proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications and current A.I. tools (ChatGPT, Canva, NotebookLM etc.)
  • Able to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in community college teaching, advising, and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience with online instruction and/or virtual training experience within a Learning Management System (i.e., Canvas, Blackboard).
  • Demonstrated versatility in teaching a range of courses offered in the Medical Administrative Assistant Program, particularly in: Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Insurance Forms, or Medical Office Procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with medical office software, such as EHR Go-educational software.
  • Experience with and interest in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) applications and/or integration into instructional approaches.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Canvas, Banner, Argos, DegreeWorks, EAB Navigate.
  • Demonstrated experience working on committees and within teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to closing equity gaps.
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
