Job description

The Medical Receptionist Medical Assistant plays a dual role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and quality patient care. This position involves managing front desk activities such as patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and handling phone communications while also providing essential clinical support including taking vitals, assisting with wound care and procedures, performing EKGs, triaging patients, and administering vaccines. Reporting to practice administrators or clinic supervisors, this role functions within a medium-sized team of 6-15 staff members, emphasizing teamwork, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient scheduling and appointment coordination
  • Oversee front desk operations and patient registration
  • Verify insurance and support billing processes
  • Maintain and handle medical records with confidentiality
  • Perform clinical assistance including taking vitals, EKGs, and wound care
  • Stock exam rooms and manage medical inventory
