Job description

Job Summary
Our client seeks an energetic, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Medical Practice Representative to join a fast-paced urgent care team. As the primary point of contact for the clinic, you will manage high-volume patient check-ins, insurance verification, scheduling, and phone inquiries while maintaining a calm, empathetic, and professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
  • Warmly greet patients upon arrival, manage the check-in/check-out queue, and guide patients through digital or paper registration.
  • Observe arriving patients in the waiting area for potential medical emergencies and immediately alert nursing/clinical staff when urgent care is needed.
  • Clearly explain wait times, clinic processes, and payment policies; address patient inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
  • Verify real-time insurance eligibility, benefits, and copays using practice management software.
  • Accurately collect copayments, deductibles, self-pay fees, and outstanding balances at check-in.
  • Ensure all patient demographic, emergency contact, and insurance records are accurate and up-to-date in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Handle high volumes of inbound calls for appointment requests, telemedicine inquiries, service availability, and general questions.
  • Maintain constant communication with triage nurses, medical assistants, and providers to optimize patient throughput and reduce wait times.

Qualifications
  • Reliable Transportation - this person will help open the office, needs to be reliable.

Experience
  • 2 years of Medical Admin experience.

Skills
  • EPIC is a nice to have.

  • Paid Sick Leave (Medix provides paid sick leave according to state and local sick leave ordinances).

  • 401k (Eligible on the first 401k open enrollment date following 6 consecutive months on assignment. 401k Open Enrollment dates are 1/1, 4/1, 7/1, and 10/1).
