Job description

Position Purpose:

The GTN Media Technical Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution and coordination of audiovisual technical operations across studio, classroom, and event environments. This role ensures daily ministry operations are properly staffed, technically prepared, and executed with excellence, while supporting team development, operational consistency, and cross-department service and collaboration.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead audio-visual technical teams, including studio technicians, technical directors, studio and event AV teams, and supervisors.
  • Ensure proper staffing, scheduling, training development, and accountability standards are upheld across technical teams in all ministry AV environments.
  • Oversee technical execution of live and recorded productions in studios, auditoriums, classrooms, and other event spaces.
  • Provide real-time technical decision-making under pressureduring productions, studios, and live events.
  • Standardize broadcast, event, and classroom production workflows to ensure quality consistently meets the expectations of producers and visionaries.
  • Maintain high-quality control standards for all audiovisual output and recordings.
  • Collaborate with production management and scheduling personnel to allocate crews across facilities.
  • Lead and participate in high-level planning meetings for studio, classroom operations, and ministry events.
  • Work closely with content creators, event producers, Charis instructors, and ministry leaders to align technical resources with vision and timelines.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and growth opportunities for team members in technical roles.
  • Conduct regular team and departmental meetings to promote culture, unity, communication, and performance excellence.
  • Ensure all production environments are fully equipped and operational, creating a foundation for crew success.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Facilities, Conference & Events, IT, Charis Academics, Marketing, etc., to service all technical production needs.
  • Ensure alignment with ministry standards, branding, vision, and message in all production environments.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of GTN Media on hiring, staffing structure, and team development initiatives.
  • Ensure production checklists and SOPs are current and consistently followed.
  • Coordinate with Media Engineering teams on maintenance, upgrades, and technical support.
  • Perform additional management tasks or technical support as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of studio and live production technology, including cameras, audio, switchers, and graphic playback systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise technical teams in a production environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proficiency in Mac and Windows systems; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve is a plus.
  • Ministry-minded, team-oriented, and committed to excellence in a faith-based work environment.

Requirements:

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Degree in Media Production, Broadcasting, AV Technology, or related field preferred.
  • A Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred.
  • Must pass all required checks

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in broadcast, studio, or live production environments with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven experience managing technical teams and overseeing complex production operations.
  • Background in faith-based media or church production environments strongly preferred.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
