JOB DESCRIPTION
The Broadcast and Video Production Instructor leads a profession-based Digital Media Production pathway at the Canyons Innovation Center (CIC), including content creation and social media production coursework. The classroom operates as a working production house in partnership with CSDtv, with students pitching, producing, and delivering real work for real clients across broadcast, video, and social platforms. The instructor functions more like a creative director and executive producer than a traditional lecturer, staying current on social media trends and platforms and building that knowledge into curriculum, while maintaining a safe, positive learning environment.
This position is hired one full year ahead of student instruction, beginning Fall 2026 with students arriving Fall 2027.
CONTENT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- During the 2026 to 2027 design year, build the Digital Media Production pathway: design curriculum and frameworks, help plan CIC studio and production spaces, and build a portfolio of starter projects, client templates, and capstone scaffolds for the first cohort.
- During the design year, embed within CSDtv operations, teach the weekly CSDtv student evening class, and support district events and livestreams to learn the program's systems, workflow, and culture firsthand.
- Support partnerships with local production companies, broadcast outlets, agencies, and creative professionals, and participate in cross-pathway design work, including producing client work for student teams in other CIC pathways.
- Design and facilitate project-based, real-world learning correlated with industry-aligned competencies, beginning lesson design with a deliverable rather than a worksheet, and treating class time as production time.
- Coach students through the full client cycle, from intake through production, revision, delivery, and post-launch debrief.
- Facilitate a profession-based capstone course with public exhibitions, screenings, or broadcast premieres as authentic demonstrations of mastery.
- Teach content creation and social media production courses, and stay current on platforms, algorithms, trends, and influencer and creator culture to keep curriculum and CSDtv's social channels current.
- Utilize broadcast equipment, livestream infrastructure, industry-standard production software, and social media and AI-assisted production tools, and maintain responsible inventory management of that equipment.
- Maintain a safe, professional working atmosphere in studios, edit bays, and on field shoots, with visible production schedules, client briefs, and project status.
- Maintain current industry certifications where relevant and stay engaged with emerging production tools and practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and district policy, including responsible use of technology and social media.
EDUCATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- T each the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE's Core Curriculum, and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities.

- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, academic, social and psychological challenges.
- Create an effective environment for learning through organization, functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
- Provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment in the classroom and on the school campus.
- Maintain professional expertise through in-service education activities provided by the school district and self-selected professional growth activities.
