Job Summary
The Sr. Manager, Social Media for Utility (work & safety category) is responsible for designing and implementing content and social media strategy for an assigned business category. This role plays a key part in sourcing, curating, and creating compelling content to drive audience engagement, increase traffic, and convert leads into loyal fans, content creators, and brand ambassadors. The Sr. Manager partners closely with Utility & Global marketing, eCommerce, Corporate Social Responsibility, and other cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment to ensure social media strategies align with brand guidelines, messaging objectives, and company values. In addition, this role leads a team of social media specialists, providing guidance and development to ensure the team stays ahead of platform capabilities, emerging trends, and cultural moments, driving a distinctive and impactful global brand presence.
Essential Functions
Description
  • Develops and executes the global social media strategy for and calendar for Utility across multiple platforms to support marketing campaigns and activism efforts, leverage existing content, publish new content, and build connections with fans, content creators, and brand ambassadors across social channels for assigned category within approved budget.
  • Defines Utility category's organic social media objectives and key results and continually monitors, analyzes, and reports achievement against these objectives to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Serves as the global point of contact for Utility social media, partnering closely with regional I&E teams to drive alignment and execution.
  • Leads and manages multiple external agencies handling social, creative, and production needs to deliver best-in-class content and campaigns.
  • Works with Utility marketing team to influence influencer strategy and maintains relationships, contracts, and budgets to support influencer & PR programs and activations around key products.
  • Curates and creates written and visual content, stories and email strategies to support social media marketing initiatives across social media platforms, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external brand influencers.
  • Provides guidance, training, and best practice recommendations to internal stakeholders on the use of social media to drive engagement and other digital communications metrics.
  • Provides coaching, context, and inspiration to Utility social media team through daily interactions, to prioritize work, lead issue resolution, and guide social media solutions that evolve the category's social media strategy and team's career development.
  • Oversees global social media budget planning, forecasting, and ongoing financial management.
  • Stays on the pulse of competitor social media trends, platform capabilities, and emerging best practices to inform strategy and future innovation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field required.
  • Minimum six (6) or more years of experience in social media/digital communications with experience building and executing social media strategy.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience managing a team.

Any equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis.

  • Demonstrates a strong appreciation for the skilled trades and modern workwear culture, with knowledge of tools, construction environments, and hands-on problem solving, as well as a deep respect for durability, craftsmanship, and high-performance products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, digital communications strategies, best practices, tools, and performance measurement techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including creative and professional writing, editing, and multimedia storytelling (photo, video, text).
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships, collaborating effectively across teams, regions, and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and apply strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead a functional team, foster a positive and productive culture, and support the professional growth and development of team members.
  • Knowledge and ability to manage external agencies and production partners to ensure high-quality, timely delivery aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Ability to analyze social media and digital performance data, interpret insights, and translate findings into actionable strategies to optimize results.

Travel Required: Yes, up to 15% of the time for activations and/or productions.
Base Salary: $130,680 - $137,940
The salary range posted for this position represents the anticipated hiring range for this role. Offers are made within this range based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, and market considerations. This is the hiring range for the position; compensation above the posted maximum is not typically available at the time of offer.
Work Location: Hybrid
This role is based in the Portland, OR area and follows a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our Portland office and generally work on-site four days per week, with flexibility based on business and team needs.
