What You'll Do Day-To-Day

Twice each year, our Academy welcomes a Summer and Winter cohort.

Candidates selected to join the Summer cohort, will begin employment in late summer. Interviews are typically scheduled late spring to early summer.

Framatome Nuclear Technology Academy technicians participate in a cohort-based program receiving competitive pay and benefits while earning credit toward a tuition free associate's degree in Nuclear Technology encompassing courses in Machining, Electrical, Welding, Mechatronics, and more. Each semester, technicians alternate between attending classes at Central Virginia Community College and deploying to nuclear sites around the country in support of various business lines. Those completing the program will also receive a journeymans card as a registered apprentice.

  • Install, troubleshoot, assemble and disassemble, repair and maintain tooling and equipment.
  • Conduct a variety of routine field tasks including, but not limited to operating specialized equipment, taking measurements, compiling data, and performing without error in high stress environments.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and certification documentation.
  • Comply with all applicable safety and health rules including personal dose compliance.
  • Work flexible hours and shifts, as required, to ensure timely service.
  • Travel to a variety of remote job sites. (Travel: Up to 50%)

Please note all successful candidates must be 18 years of age or older at date of hire.

  • High School diploma or equivalent education. 
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical tooling and equipment.  
  • Basic communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.  
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships, work collaboratively within a team environment.  
  • Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.  
  • Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking.

  • Salary: Starting pay for this position is $22.00 per hour and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
