This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Riverside, CA.
This role is ideal for a motivated engineer who brings experience across healthcare and other complex building sectors, including commercial, higher education, and civic projects, and is looking to grow within a collaborative, design-focused environment.

Your Impact
  • Perform mechanical engineering design and technical delivery across a diverse portfolio including healthcare, commercial, higher education, and civic projects
  • Support design of HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, plumbing, and building systems
  • Participate in the full project lifecycle, from concept development through construction and close-out
  • Analyze and interpret data from site conditions, drawings, and technical documents to support engineering solutions
  • Prepare and contribute to technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and sector-specific requirements, including healthcare environments
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Support client interactions and project meetings, building strong working relationships
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
  • Experience supporting projects across healthcare and/or commercial, higher education, or civic sectors
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
  • Experience supporting projects from design through construction
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or on track to obtain
  • Experience working on complex healthcare or institutional projects
  • Familiarity with California codes and local jurisdiction requirements
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • LEED AP or sustainability credentials

Compensation:
Expected Salary: $100,800- $147,000
