Location: Harlan, IA

Job Type: Internship
Reports To: Quality Manager
Position Summary
CPM Holdings, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Engineering Intern to support engineering, drafting, and manufacturing layout initiatives within the Industrial Solutions business unit in Harlan, Iowa. This internship provides hands‑on experience working with engineering documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), part drawings, and facility layout projects in a manufacturing environment. The intern will partner closely with engineering, operations, and inventory teams to support year‑end inventory targets and documentation standardization efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and modify Bills of Materials (BOMs) for roller shell assemblies to support inventory accuracy and year‑end inventory level targets.
  • Complete print comparison and rationalization for non‑CPM supplied parts to ensure documentation consistency and alignment.
  • Develop and update engineering drawings for Carlson part numbers (non‑CPM parts).
  • Assist with layout planning and organization of the South Building assembly area, supporting efficient assembly flow and space utilization.
  • Create new engineering prints for non‑CPM part numbers (including dies and roller assemblies) using the CPM title block and drafting standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations team members to ensure drawings and BOMs align with manufacturing and inventory needs.
  • Support additional engineering or documentation‑related projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline).
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience with or exposure to CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Effective communication skills and willingness to learn in a hands‑on manufacturing environment.
