The Technical Writer supports the Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing Teams in creating, reviewing, releasing and maintaining technical and manufacturing documentation, supporting Oracle maintenance, ensuring configuration control for required processes as well as supporting through documentation various manufacturing processes. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Manufacturing Instructions and technical specifications.
  • Configuration management across multiple TMS document control processes.
  • Oracle administration, entry and update of item masters, routings, and bills of material applicable for raw materials and production components to ensure timely and accurate MRP support and release of production documentation.
  • Coordination with the Sales Team and Applications Engineering Team to review customer drawings and specifications for design concerns/conflicts and material requirements related to Oracle entry.
  • Integration with Manufacturing Engineering to support and optimize any/all production processes. 
  • Disseminate necessary information to keep internal customers informed regarding status/progress of work in process. 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Recent grad with a Mechanical Engineering degree or similar will be considered
  • Associates Degree or higher in a technical discipline is preferred. Occupational and/or military experience in leu of education will be considered.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Strong Technical Writing and computer skills including fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Hands on experience with coaxial cable assembly manufacturing is a plus
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment is required.
  • Familiarity/experience with 3D solid modeling software & data vaulting is a plus.
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
  • Familiar with manufacturing and drafting practices is preferred. 
  • Experience with and/or exposure to AS9100 quality standards is a plus.
  • Experience interpreting work instructions to connect test equipment is preferred.
  • Prior experience with mechanical and electrical operation of test equipment is preferred.
  • Prior experience reading and interpreting specs (blueprints, schematics, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP and/or MRP systems is a plus.
  • Industry experience 3+ years minimum is preferred.
