Position Summary:

Berry Metal Company is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team based in our Zelienople, PA office.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate engineering drawings and supporting product design and development. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical design and drafting skills, knowledge of manufacturing processes and industry standards, and the ability to manage multiple engineering priorities in a collaborative, customer-focused environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, revise, check, and maintain engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Inventor, and manual drafting methods.
  • Create 3D part and assembly files in Inventor or other modeling software.
  • Develop drawings from concept sketches, markups, and customer or project requirements.
  • Select materials and create BOMs using ERP system.
  • Support technical sales, production, field service, and customer communications as needed.
  • Manage engineering projects from drawing initiation and performing engineering calculations through manufacturing and commissioning support.
  • Maintain required engineering files, ISO documentation, and department records.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through seminars, training, and awareness of industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 2+ years of related experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical drafting, preferably within a manufacturing or steel company.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. Epicor) to create BOMs, routings, and part numbers.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop, INVENTOR, and modeling software to generate mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to perform Engineering analysis including strength of materials, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and flow analysis
  • Understanding of metal operations, procedures, and welding techniques including TIG, MIG, SMAW, and Flux-Core
  • Knowledge of Design Codes and Industry Standards – ASME / AISE / AISC / DIN
  • Ability to communicate cross departmentally and with customers
  • Valid driver’s license and ability travel
