Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer and/or a Mechanical Engineer. This position will be in Gilbert, AZ. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space System Division.
The Mechanical Engineer will work with Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) engineering leads and Integration and Test managers across Gilbert product lines to drive design, analysis, integration and delivery of MGSE to support Satellite Manufacturing Facility operations.
1st shift - 7:00am - 4:00pm (flexible)
Job Responsibilities:
  • The candidate will perform detailed design tasks using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other software tools to develop and document ground support equipment designs.
  • The role involves interfacing and communicating with customers, program and functional management, other spacecraft engineering disciplines, and component suppliers.
  • Skills include, but not limited to, Computer Aided Design (CAD), knowledge and application of Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T), 3D Printing, Design for Manufacturing, Mechanics of Metallic / Composite Materials, Stress Calculations, and Spacecraft Component Layout.

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Mechanical Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD Software
  • Experience with CAD configuration management
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Basic Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent STEM related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 Years of experience with a bachelor's degree; Minimum of 0 Years with master's degree; Minimum of 0 Years experience with PhD
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD Software
  • Experience with CAD configuration management

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 or higher.
  • Previous internships or school club involvement related to Mechanical Engineering Design/Build/Test.
  • Experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill PDM/PLM or equivalent engineering tools.
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulin
  • Experience with suppliers and supplier coordination/management
  • Experience creating designs using machined steel and aluminum, sheet metal, welded fixtures, additive manufacturing/composites components and assemblies

Primary Level Salary Range: $59,900.00 - $89,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
