Job Summary
As a Intermediate Project/ Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and project execution support for multidisciplinary engineering projects within the energy and infrastructure sectors. You will be responsible for leading the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions while managing project scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives. Working collaboratively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical engineering projects from concept through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resource requirements to achieve project objectives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure integrated and efficient project execution.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to support successful project outcomes.
Mechanical Engineering & Design
  • Develop, review, and approve mechanical engineering designs, calculations, specifications, equipment selections, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and client specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
  • Support engineering reviews including HAZOPs, design reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering initiatives as required.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and project progress reviews.
  • Support proposal development, technical evaluations, project planning, and business development activities as required.
  • Provide technical recommendations and resolve complex engineering and project-related issues.
Construction & Commissioning Support
  • Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Review vendor documentation and respond to technical queries from contractors and clients.
  • Conduct site visits and field assessments to support project execution, troubleshoot issues, and verify compliance with project requirements.
Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
  • Promote a strong culture of health, safety, environmental stewardship, and quality throughout all project activities.
  • Ensure engineering work is completed in accordance with company quality management systems and established procedures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices, project delivery processes, and technical standards.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in Alberta.
  • 4-9 years of progressive mechanical engineering and project engineering experience within the energy, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, risks, and client expectations.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective leadership, mentoring, and team collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • General proficiency with industry-standard engineering design, analysis, project management, and office software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
