As a Mechanical Design Engineer supporting the SDS Support and Training (S&T) Support Equipment team, you will be responsible for coordinating with suppliers, reviewing designs, and integrating with other NG integrated product teams to ensure adherence to, and implementation of requirements. You will actively participate in design reviews, research, plan, design and develop mechanical products and solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are critical to being successful in this position.

The standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position can be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer (level 3) depending on candidate experience and qualifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineer (level 2): Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 0 years of experience
  • Principal Mechanical Engineer (level 3): Bachelor's degree in in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years or relevant experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD with 1 year of relevant experience US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active or current Secret clearance at time of application
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
  • Experience performing mechanical design efforts on MILCON, major infrastructure/building projects, or Aerospace and Defense programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of tools - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Ability to understand and interpret requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly and succinctly communicate complex concepts
  • Exposure to missiles program requirements & with propulsion
  • Proficient with 3D design/2D drawing CAD in NX
  • Proficient with PDM and/or CPLM
  • Proficient with GD&T and ASME Y14.5-2009

Salary range for Roy UT:

Level 2 $72,100-$108,100

Level 3 $89,400-$134,200

Salary Range for Huntsville AL:

Level 2 $79,600-$119,400

Level 3 $98,900-$148,300

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $119,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $148,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
