Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design and release custom busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for use in the data center industry

Generate 2D and 3D SolidWorks busbar application models based off requirements fed in from the project management team.

Load production systems with material requirements from approved drawings.

Assist Technical Engineers in preparing technical submittals for client review by providing accurate and high quality 2D drawings.

Collaborate with cross-functional production teams to execute trial runs of new designs (first of a kind) and assist with activities leading up to mass production release.

Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications at all times.

Provide technical documentation including Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing instructions, and design reports.

Collaborate with the manufacturing team to resolve design issues during production and ensure smooth implementation of designs onto the shop floor.

Modify existing designs and create new engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions based on project requirements.

Participate in peer-review release process for models and drawings and provide feedback regarding issues needing correction or resolution prior to releasing leveraging knowledge of drafting standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred.

3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within an Engineered-to-Order (ETO) environment

Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication (steel, copper, aluminum), welding, machining

Understanding of industry standards such as ANSI and ISO

Knowledge of regulatory bodies preferred (UL, CSA, ETL, etc)

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) required

Experience with SolidWorks PDM system required
